Color Indicating Silica Gel
Our Price: $5.00

Nothing absorbs moisture like silica gel and it is an inoffensive material that even organic gardeners can love. It contains a non-toxic blue dye that changes color to light pink when the gel has become saturated with moisture. You can pop it in a warm oven and re-dry the gel for re-use. Enough for storing 5-10 lb. of seed.
Widger
Our Price: $5.00

For many years we have used and loved this elegant little stainless steel tool for pricking out and transplanting tiny seedlings. The original British manufacturer stopped making them in 2004, but we have finally found someone who produces them just for us…slightly modified but just as useful as the original. It’s amazing how much difference a small tool like this can make! A Bountiful Gardens exclusive.
Pot Maker
Our Price: $14.95

Solid maple mold squeezes strips of newspaper into starter pots. Fill them with soil, and plant out pot and all, minimizing transplant shock. Invented by Otto Richter, Canada’s largest herb grower. Makes pots about 2 ¼ " wide and 2 ¼ " tall. We recommend tearing the paper open at the bottom just before planting. a customer suggests asking a newspaper or printer for the ends of newsprint rolls, which they may give away for free.
Seed Saver’s Kit
Our Price: $15.95

The most important factor for storing seed, homegrown or commercial, is dryness. Our kit contains one 8 oz. packet of silica gel (see description below) in a zip-lock bag (enough for 5-10 lb. of seed), 8 data keeping forms, and our Booklet 13, Growing To Seed, which gives specific instructions for saving seed. We store seed in jars from our kitchen (like mayonnaise or pickle jars), but the Mason jars that grocery markets still sell for home canning make an excellent, durable seal.
